Fig and lemon jam

Technical specifications

Description

The fig tree originates from West Asia and is cultivated in many temperate areas of Mediterranean,America and Oceania. In Italy fig trees are to be found mainly in Puglia, Campania and Calabria. The most ancient and finest cultivar Fico Dottato deserves a very special attention. The Latins already knew this fruit under the name Ficus Carica, and Plinius celebrates it as the most suitable variety to make dry figs. By full rights this fruit is considered to be the best Italian fig for the sweetness intensity in pulp. This fruit is used to produce both dry and stuffed figs, and jams which turn the fig fruit into a delicacy.
•Fig and lemon jam•
This jam is produced by combining two first-class products from Campania’s agriculture: the Fico Dottato and the Lemon from Sorrento Peninsula. The flavour and the sweetness of pulp thickness of the Fico Dottato harmonize perfectly with the unmistakable Ovale di Sorrento lemon, a unique product, whose flesh is juicy and the skin has an intense aroma. All the jams by casaBarone are home-made, and the processing consists of: washing the selected figs, dicing, and crushing figs together with the lemon peels. The following step will be the cooking, and the result is a fruit preserve distinguished by the flavourful fruit combination .
This jam is delicious for breakfast, in other words a delicious way to start the day, that can accompany as well goat ricottina cheese or other ripe cheeses.
