Trombaia Merlot Maremma Toscana IGT

Merlot is a black grape variety, whose name derives from the blackbird that has particular fondness for its berries. It comes from the area of the Gironde, South-West of France, particularly in Bordeaux.

It definitely is the most important red grape in the world. With dense ruby color, hints of fruit and spices, its smell is persistent and intense, with prevailing notes of black currant, wild rose, vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and tobacco. The body is smooth and very consistent, warm, with a long and very pleasant persistence.

The harvest is done by hand in early September. The grapes, de-stemmed and crushed, are placed in vats of maceration for 20/25 days for fermentation (27/29°). The aging in oak barrels for 18 months gives the intense ruby red tones of this Merlot garnet hues, a fragrant aroma and a dry round taste.

It matches with red meat dishes, roast meats and mature cheese.

Serve at room temperature, 16-18 ° C in large glass, uncorking the bottle one hour before serving or decanting the wine in a special wide base decanter.
