TYPE OF LAND: well exposed hillsideGRAPES USED: only grapes grown and owned by Romanelli in San Clemente - Montefalco.
Composition: Sangiovese 65%, Sagrantino 15%, Merlot 10%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%.
SYSTEM OF FARMING AND DENSITY: Spurred Cordon to 5.000 plants/ha
YIELD PER HECTARE: 9,000 Kg of grapes
TECHNICAL PRODUCTION: The best grapes of our vineyards, harvested by hand and carefully selected, are placed in boxes and immediately transported to the cellar, where they are de-stemmed and gently pressed . The must is obtained to start fermentation at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping and delestage, followed by maceration on the skins for about 30 - 45 days. After racking, the wine is aged for 12 months in French wood barrels of sizes ranging between 225 and 2500 Litres. Montefalco Rosso is then blended, filtered and bottled for about two months before being marketed.
