An austere and elegant traditional Barbera made from a mixed ageing in small wood and large casks, to impart complexity, extend ageworthiness and maintain the characteristic fruity fragrance of this variety.
Its colour is purple-red with violet highlights that tend towards garnet after a few
years of ageing. The bouquet is reminiscent of stone fruit, strawberries, violets, vanilla with hints of coffee, tobacco and flint. Full-bodied and flavourful, it mellows with ageing achieving sweet nuances that allow it to be served with hazelnut or almond cakes.
It makes an ideal accompaniment for rich meat and game dishes or cheese.
Serving temperature 18-19°C. Use large-bowled glasses.
