Description
Casa Barone is the largest and most well-known biological farm in the National Park of Vesuvius. The organic cultivation of Casa Barone spread out along the lands which had been crossed by the Lavas of the eruption in 1944, shaping a striking landscape. Here. The clear sign of the destroying forces of nature seem to be fading thanks to the tidy beauty of the cultivated land, result of man’s work.
The farming arrangement reflect the typical Vesuvian orchard, and among volcanic rocks and wild broom are alternating vineyards for grapes such Caprettone, Catalanesca, Piedirosso, and Aglianico, apricot trees, plum trees, mulberry trees, sorb trees, fig trees, walnut trees, olive trees, citrus trees, Crataegus azarolus trees (nowadays it is a very rare fruit; it is something like a small apple, but has a bony endocarp, representing the Company’s logo).
Casa Barone is a Slow Food presidium for the Organic Piennolo Tomato from Vesuvius available as a preserved product as well as fresh. Our products include apricot jam and other typical fruit jams, aromatic liqueurs fruit spirits and white wine from Catalanesca grapes.
