Our winery is situated on the enchanting hills of San Miniato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Miniato), small village, mainly famous as one of the most important area for the production of White Truffle in Italy. (http://www.sanminiatotartufo.it/inglese/homeing.htm)
Pietro Beconcini Agricola s.s. (www.pietrobeconcini.com) was funded in 1958 by Giuseppe Beconcini, grandfather of the current owner, Leonardo Beconcini and his wife Eva Bellagamba.
Our company is specialised in the production of the "king" of the Tuscan grapes: Sangiovese, but we have other interesting and unusual purposes.
Currently, we have 12 hectares of vines planted on different clayey and rich in fossils soils of our hills with different sun exposures in order to have a more complex and well-balanced wine.
As we previously explained, we mainly cultivate plants of Sangiovese and other ones, typically Tuscan such as: Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Canaiolo, Malvasia Bianca, San Colombano and so on.
Besides the traditional and historical production of Sangiovese grape and traditional Wines, we finally start the marketing of the first two vintages of two wines producted using only Tempranillo grapes .
We are the unique Tempranillo winegrowers in Italy: grapes derived by century-long vines, which are an historical presence in our vineyards in San Miniato.
We have devoted ourselves completely, during these last 15 years of studying, in preserving the old vines of this ancient Tempranillo variety avoiding the extinction.
We are the only ones to guard this variety proper of this area, and We are ready to start the marketing of our two Tempranillo 100% wines.
