The blending of Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes is a time-honoured practice in the area around Alba. Massimo Oddero has carried on this tradition dedicating a big red wine to his father Francesco, a notary public in Alba. The wine-making process is traditional too, following the path of the great local reds: soft presing of the grapes with destemming; fermentation on the skins for several days ; maturing in small French barrels for at least 12 months; and well-deserved ageing in the bottle, in silent cellars. Deep garnet-red, with lovely hues, it has an ample nose, with spicy, floreal, and fragrant overtones including red fruit jam. Its clear-cut, warm dry taste leads in to a long aromatic finish.
